Priced by jobs, not by minutes

Every plan runs your jobs on your own machines first, and on Boat when they are full. Limits are soft, so your jobs keep running past them.

Questions

Plans, limits, and billing in short. The docs have the rest.

What is a start?
A start is one job that a ciproxy runner takes, on your machine or on Boat, whatever its result. A re-run is a new start. A warm runner that waits without a job is not a start.
What counts as an own machine?
Every machine that is registered to your workspace, also while it is offline. Remove a machine in the dashboard to free its place.
What happens when I pass a limit?
Your jobs keep running. The dashboard shows a warning and offers the plan or add-on that covers your use, such as 25,000 starts on Team. You decide when to change; ciproxy adds no charges by itself.
Who pays for overflow?
You pay Boat directly. Overflow runners start in your own Boat account, which bills by the second. Set a monthly spend limit in ciproxy; at the limit, jobs wait for a free slot on your machines.
How do I cancel?
Open Plan and usage in the dashboard and manage your plan in the Stripe customer portal. A move to Free takes effect at the end of the paid period, and your jobs keep running.
How do you calculate the saving?

One new Hetzner AX42 at its list price runs jobs in every minute of a 30-day month. After a quarter for the host, its 16 threads and 64 GB give 6 slots of 2 vCPU and 8 GB. This calculation combines both 512 GB disks into one 1,024 GB filesystem with RAID0 or one LVM volume. Hetzner's installer mirrors two disks by default, which gives one disk's capacity. After the image budget and host disk reserve, it fits 6 default jobs at a time, so it runs 259,200 job minutes. At 5 minutes a job, that is 51,840 starts, which Team with 30,000 extra starts covers.

GitHub-hosted runners, 259,200 minutes at $0.006

That is 80% less than Blacksmith, the cheaper of the two.

The list prices come from the pages of Hetzner, Blacksmith, and GitHub on 4 November 2026, without tax. Both hosted runners have 2 vCPU, as one slot does. The Hetzner AX42 also costs $59 once to set up. Free minutes of the hosted runners are not subtracted.
